If he’s laid off he’ll act humpy when you saddle him, but he’s never serious enough to do more. My wife cowboyed on this horse last fall and rode a couple days with our 2 year old daughter on with her. This horse is tough and smart, and great in the rocks and rough. Stands 14 hands. With names like Mr Jess Perry, First Down Dash, Sail on Bunny, and Martha Six Moons on her papers she is bred to run but would also make a nice head horse as she is very cowy as well. Cali has brought cows up from the pasture and has been turned back on. She is currently loping the barrel pattern and has been used outside. He is one you get home and get to using, really a nice using gelding. Tony does have a scar on his right front hoof that he has had since he was a colt, it is strictly cosmetic and does not even effect the way his hoof grows. He’s gentle as can be, and doesn’t get fresh or dumb. He has some speed! He’s broke right and soft. Been ranched on, drug calves and prior to us owning him, was heeled on by a 9 heeler. He’s wicked in the field on the head side, but does need some box work. With a little hauling and patience in the practice pen, he’s going to be a jam up head horse. He’s kind and gentle enough for grandma on the trails, but has a LOT to give you if you’re asking. If you need a big circle ranch horse, or a rough country horse he is NOT your guy. Black magic prefers the town scene, or the trails. He has had some navicular issues, but a proper shoe job keeps him sound. He does have tender soles all the way around which is why he doesn’t get to stay on the ranch. If you’re looking for a rock crasher look elsewhere, but if you want a gentle trail horse, or have the arena space to work him right in the box, he’s your guy. I don’t think it would take much to pattern him on the barrels, and he has the speed and buttons to make it fun. Click For Video
