Catalog Layout Editor

The Catalog Layout Editor allows you to fully customize your sale catalog presentation. With this feature, you can change the page layout option, add advertisements or text fillers, and make adjustments to the format of the text.

You can find the  Catalog Layout Editor by selecting  Finalize Catalog on the left-hand side of your screen, and then clicking  Choose Catalog Layout & Prepare File for Printer.

You can make edits and changes on ALL of the catalog layout page formats separately and save them. This means, for example, you can create a newsprint sale preview with shortened family trees and limited information to send out before your sale and also create a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 printed book with all information included. Simply edit one of your catalog layout options, save, and then you can switch to another.

Note: The Catalog Layout Editor is designed to be used once your catalog pages are complete. Make sure you have edited your pages, added pictures, and are "printer-ready," as this is your last step in the catalog creation process.

Page Layout Options

Along the top of the Catalog Layout Editor, you will see a drop down that contains different page layout options. The options presented are based on the pedigree type chosen when you created your sale.

Note: You can choose different layouts for each session in your sale. Simply choose which session you would like to edit from the drop-down  Sessions menu. Make sure to print each session to a PDF when you are finished.

Note:   When choosing a layout for your catalog, remember all sessions MUST BE the same size page  (5.5 X 8.5 or 8.5 X 11).

Text Formatting

The format of all text on the  Catalog Layout Editor can be altered using the options on the top of the screen.

Consignor, Sale Horse, Year/Color/Sex, and Family Tree: Any of these items can easily be changed by highlighting the text you would like to edit. Just click and drag your cursor over the information. Then, you can use the editing functions at the top of the screen to bold names, change font size, and change spacing, just to name a few functions.

Pedigree Paragraphs: To edit the formatting on the pedigree paragraphs, click and drag your cursor over the information you want to format. Then, as stated above, you can use the edit functions to format your text.

Options Menu

In the top left corner of the screen, the drop down menu icon will show Save, Load Existing, and Print buttons, as well as your indexes.

Change Presentation Options: These options allow you to customize what information is included on the catalog pages. By clicking this option, a pop-up will appear on your screen with the following items listed.

Note:  These options are only available in the Newsprint layouts.

·   Hip Number - Uncheck this box to remove the Hip Number from the catalog pages. Good for use in private, one-owner sales.

·    Consignor - Uncheck this box to remove the Consignor line from the catalog pages. Good for use in private, one-owner sales.

·    Year Color Sex - Uncheck this box to remove the year, color, and sex line from the catalog pages.

·    Family Tree - Uncheck this box to remove the full family tree from the catalog pages. A summarized version will replace the family tree and it will include the sire, dam and dam's sire.

· All Photos - Uncheck this box to remove all photos from the catalog pages.

· All RGP-CB - Uncheck this box to remove the RGP-CB dated line from the catalog pages.

·  Add/Remove Fillers - Click these buttons to add or remove text fillers from your Newsprint-style pages.

Note:  Make all presentation adjustments and click Done BEFORE you add fillers. (You will need to re-open the Change Presentation Options tab from the Options menu.)

Include Page Header & Include Page Footer
: These options allow you to add a page header and/or footer to all of your catalog pages. ( For Newsprint layouts only).

To edit your header/footer, click in the box and an edit screen will open. You can change the border width, style, and color, as well as the background color. You can also use the same header or footer across all pages by clicking  Copy This Style To All Headers/Footers. To edit the header/footer text, simply highlight the text and use the font editing tools along the top of the  Catalog Layout Editor.

Text or photos can be used as headers instead of text. Photo requirements are a jpg or png graphic file (2778 X 144 pixels). A warning will appear if your photo is the wrong size.

Note: If you use  both headers and footers, you have the option to  Copy This Style To All. This lets you use the same banner across all of your headers and footers. Simply click the  Copy This Style To All button on the header/footer you would like to use.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This will undo work you have done on your Advertisement or Text Filler boxes.  Please add your header and/or footer BEFORE creating and inserting your ads or text.

Advertisement or Text Filler Boxes ( Newsprint only)

To access the adding and editing portion of the filler boxes, simply click on the box you want to edit and a pop-up will appear. You will see there are tabs with different editing options. Ads can be built right on the screen in the filler box, or can be built, saved on your computer, and imported into the filler box as an image. Images need to be a minimum of 651 pixels wide by 480 pixels high.

·     Border - Add a border to the filler box. You can adjust the border width, style, and color.

·     Background - Change the background of the filler box.

·     Image - Add an image to the filler box. You can choose a file that is located on your computer. Note the dimensions needed underneath the file chooser. You can then use the following edits to center and resize your image.

·     Delete Filler - If you choose not to have a filler in a certain spot on the catalog page, click this option. To add a filler back that you have deleted, click the blank space on the page where the filler was and click to add. (To start completely new, you can delete the filler and add it back).

Saving Your Work

The SAVE button is in the top left corner under the drop down Options Menu!

The Catalog Layout Editor allows you to continually update your layout until you are finished. Save each time before you leave the page to ensure all your changes you made will be saved. You can make edits and changes as many times as you like and, as long as you save, they will be there when you log in the next time.

Note: You must click  Load Existing from the Options menu to see previously saved changes.

Note:  If you have made a mistake, or don't like the changes you have made, you can refresh your page to go back to the last saved version of your catalog. To refresh, click the circular arrow next to the back button in the top left-hand corner of your browser. Any saved changes cannot be undone unless you click the  Start Over button, discussed below.

Start Over Button

The "Start Over" button is located in the upper right corner of your screen. The "Start Over" option will not affect your pre-edited horse pages, but will erase all the changes you have made in the Catalog Layout Editor and will restore it to its original state.

Picture Adjustments (Newsprint Only)

In instances where the consignment's picture does not fit automatically in the frame, you can align, enlarge, reduce or move the image. Click on an image to open the pop-up editing window. If you simply need to move the picture within the frame, click and drag the photo until it is in the desired frame of view. You can also use the buttons in the pop-up window to move the picture up, down, left, right, and enlarge or reduce.

Consignor, Sire, Dam, and Horse Indexes

In the top left corner of the screen, the drop down menu icon will also allow you to view the indexes in the same format as the catalog layout you chose on the main editing screen. Click on any of the indexes to view them in your page size format.

You can easily edit names in an index by clicking on a word to bring up the edit function. You can capitalize or correct information and save these indexes for future use.

Note: Indexes are not available for the Newsprint Layout Options.
