Catalog Layout Editor
Steps 1 – 2 on the Job Checklist should be completed before using the Catalog Layout Editor
IMPORTANT! BEFORE CHOOSING YOUR LAYOUT:
Inspect ALL pages in the "Edit Catalog Page" view to verify they fit ABOVE the blue line & the text is NOT red
· The Catalog Layout Editor allows you to fully customize your sale catalog presentation.
o Change the page layout
o Adjust text formatting
o Add advertisements or text fillers
· From the My Sales screen, click the Finalize Catalog tab
o Click Choose Catalog Layout & Prepare File for Printer
· Edit and print more than one layout style, if desired
o For example:
§ Create a Newsprint Sale Preview to send out before the sale
§ Create a full-page catalog to provide at the sale
o Work on one layout at a time, save to a PDF, then work on the next layout
· NOTE: Do NOT start using the Catalog Layout Editor until your individual pages are complete.
· Page Layout Options
o Along the top of the Catalog Layout Editor is a drop-down list with different page layout options.
§ The options presented are based on the pedigree type you are using.
§ NOTE: When choosing layouts, all sessions MUST BE the same page size (5.5 x 8.5 OR 8.5 x 11)
o Basic Sale Page Options
§ 3 per page, 5 ½ x 8 ½
§ 4 per page, Horizontal, 8 ½ x 11
§ 4 per page, Vertical, 8 ½ x 11
§ 6 per page, Vertical, 8 ½ x 11
§ Newsprint – Sale Preview
o Ranch Sale Page Options
§ 1 per page, 5 ½ x 8 ½
§ 2 per page, 5 ½ x 8 ½
§ 3 per page, Horizontal, 8 ½ x 11
§ Newsprint – Sale Preview
o Paragraph (Shortened) Sale Page Options
§ 1 per page, 5 ½ x 8 ½
§ 2 per page, Vertical, 5 ½ x 8 ½

o NOTE: Each session can have a different layout.
§ Choose the session you would like to edit from the drop-down menu
§ Edit the pages
§ Save to a PDF
§ Switch to your next session
· Saving Your Work
o The Save button is located in the top-left corner Options Menu dropdown list (Click on the word "Save")
o Save your work frequently
§ Always save before leaving the page
§ To save a file:
- Make text changes & photo adjustments.
- Click on Options Menu dropdown list.
- Click the word "Save"
- Close layout window.
§ To retrieve a saved file:
- Go to Finalize Catalog/Choose Catalog Layout & Prepare File for Printer.
- Let the file completely load (this file will not have changes saved).
- When file is finished loading, click on "Open Saved Version" in the Options Menu.
- File will reload and this new file will contain your changes.
o If you made a mistake, or don’t like the changes you made:
§ Click the refresh button in your browser (circular arrow next to the back button in the top left corner of the browser)
§ The last saved version of the catalog will appear
§ Any saved changes can be undone by clicking the Start Over button. The Start Over button will remove all changes (see below).
· Text Formatting
o ALL text can be altered
§ Click and drag your cursor over text to highlight
§ Edit with any of the functions along the top of the screen
o NOTE: Changes made here will NOT be applied anywhere else in the Catalog Builder.
· Options Menu
o The Options Menu is in the top left corner of the screen and contains:
§ Save
§ Load Existing
§ Print
§ Indexes
o Newsprint Layout Only:
§ Change Presentation Options – a pop-up will appear on your screen with the following options:
· Hip Number – Uncheck this box to remove Hip Numbers from the pages
· Consignor – Uncheck this box to remove the Consignor line from the pages
· Year Color Sex – Uncheck this box to remove the year, color, sex line from the pages
· Family Tree – Uncheck this box to remove the full family tree from the pages. A summarized version will replace the tree and include the sire, dam, and dam’s sire
· All Photos – Uncheck this box to remove all photos from the pages
· Add/Remove Fillers – Click these buttons to add or remove text fillers from the pages (See Advertisement or Text Filler Boxes below)
§ Include Page Headers & Footers – adds a page header/footer to all of the pages
· To edit the border/background, click in the box
o Border width, style, color, and background color
· To edit the text:
o Highlight the text
o Use the font editing tools along the top of the screen
· The same header/footer can be used across all pages by clicking Copy This Style To All Headers/Footers
· Photos can be used instead of text
o Photo requirements:
§ JPG or PNG file
§ 2778 pixels wide by 144 pixels high
· IMPORTANT NOTE: This will undo any work you have done on the Filler boxes. Please add your header and/or footer BEFORE adding page Fillers.
· Advertisement or Text Filler Boxes (Newsprint Layout Only)
o Add headers/footers and make all presentation adjustments from the Options Menu BEFORE adding fillers.
o To add Filler boxes:
§ Click the Options Menu
§ Choose Change Presentation Options
§ Click Add Fillers
§ Click Done
o To edit Filler boxes:
§ Click on the box and a pop-up will appear
§ Edit the border and background, or import an image
· Images must be a minimum of 651 pixels wide by 816 pixels high
· To move the image, click and drag it
· To delete the image:
o Click on the image
o Click the Import Image tab
o Click Delete Image
o To delete a single Filler box:
§ Click the box
§ Choose Delete Filler
o To delete all Filler boxes:
§ Click Options Menu
§ Click Change Presentation Options
§ Click Remove Fillers
· Start Over Button
o This button is located in the top right corner of your screen
o This will NOT affect your pre-edited horse pages, but WILL erase all of the changes you have made in the Catalog Layout Editor and restore its original state
· Picture Adjustments (Newsprint Only)
o Click on a picture to open the pop-up photo editing box
o Click and drag the photo within the frame
o Use the buttons in the pop-up window to move or resize the picture
· Consignor, Sire, Dam, and Horse Indexes
o Click the Options Menu in the top left corner
§ Click any index to view them in your chosen page size
· Click and drag your cursor over text you want to edit
o Use the font editing tools along the top of the screen
o NOTE: Indexes are not available for the Newsprint Layout Options.
o NOTE: You can also find your indexes under the Actions tab on your My Sales screen
· Sending PDF to Printer
o Once you are satisfied with your pages, see the Going to the Printer instructions
